IVY Geake's 100th birthday was celebrated with close friends and relatives at Appleby Residential Home in Kelly Bray where she is a resident.

Mrs Geake, whose maiden name was Lawrence, lived most of her life in the parish of Stoke Climsland, first at Home Farm where her parents lived and worked for the Duchy of Cornwall.

When the cottages around the village green were built, she and her husband Harold were one of the first tenants to move in.

They had one daughter Edna who sadly died. Mrs Geake then devoted her life to help her son-in-law Cyril raise his three children and grandchildren.

At 14, she became the youngest member of the local WI and remained a member until she moved into Appleby Residential Home at Kelly Bray where she is happy.

During her celebration on December 30, Mrs Geake was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Callington Portreeve Karen Gold.
