MORE than 30 people turned out during damp drizzly weather at Burrator Arboretum to help the South West Lakes Trust's conservation team record a variety of species sighted on the day.
Following in the footsteps of the 'Bioblitz' idea — an event where people work together to find as many species as possible within a set location and over a defined time period — the team organised an event to take place from 10am to dusk.
Recording sessions led by experts in their field included mosses, amphibians and reptiles, plants, butterflies, otters, bats and moths along with fungi and a pond dipping session.
A spokesman for South West Lakes Trust said: 'The Bioblitz was a very successful event and in total over 140 different species were recorded on the day.
'We have more to add to the list in the lines of flora and bird species from records handed in by volunteers but not actually sighted on the day.'
The full list of species recorded on the day is now available on the trust's website http://www.swlakestrust.org.uk/conservation/get-involved/wildlife-recording">www.swlakestrust.org.uk/conservation/get-involved/wildlife-recording
