POLICE are appealing for information after a bike was stolen from a supermarket in Tavistock on Sunday.

A police spokesperson said: 'It is not unusual for bikes to be taken around the town but it is very unusual for one to be stolen after it has been properly locked up.'

A Claude Butler bicycle that was secured by a lock was stolen from Morrisons. It was left in situ at around 12.45pm and was gone by 1.45pm.

The bicycle is a mountain bike, silver and a 'Capewrath' model.

The spokesperson added: 'The owner will be able to identify the bike so if someone tries to give you a used one of these for Christmas, give us a call please.'
