A temporary closure of Okefreeriders' North Shore cycling track at Abbeyford Woods near Okehampton may become permanent if new members are not found.
Due to felling works at the woods, which are managed by the Forestry Commission, the track is due to be temporarily removed in December.
It would have been reinstated early next year but due to a drop in membership and usage by local riders, Okefreeriders' fear it will now not re-open at all.
The bike club is now searching for new members to use the track and get involved with inspecting and maintenance work.
New members will also be able to suggest ideas to improve the facility when it is rebuilt next spring.
Jamie Yates from Okefreeriders said: 'We built our Shore trails in Abbeyford Woods in conjuction with the Forestry Commission four years ago, and it has always been a popular destination for riders from all over the country.
'However, the trails take a lot of maintenance and recently fewer local people have been getting involved with the facility site.
'We now have an excellent opportunity to build a new and improved track after the felling work is complete, but we desperately need new members to make this happen.
'We also need people who would be prepared to take on an active role in inspecting and maintaining the track on a regular basis.'
Martin Webb, the Forestry Commission's area forester for West Devon, said: 'It will be a real shame if the track does not get rebuilt.
'We have enjoyed working with Okefreeriders over the years and it has always been a popular site for off-road cyclists.
'We hope that the club will be able to generate some enthusiasm for rebuilding a new and improved track and that new members come forward.
'It is essential that the track is properly inspected and maintained and this requires club members to take responsibility for it, although we do offer guidance and support as much as possible.'
The felling works at Abbeyford Woods will start mid December and will go on until mid February. This will mean the area of the woods west of the public road will be out of bounds to the public while the work is carried out.
