TAVISTOCK residents have showed the 'true spirit of Christmas', by helping to make Tavistock United Reformed Church's Christmas Day lunch and party a success.

Guests had their plates full to overflowing with turkey and all the trimmings and the entertainment was much enjoyed.

The Rev Roger Cornish said: 'This was the seventh year that people in Tavistock — individuals and groups — have shown the true spirit of Christmas by donating goods, money and time, to enable this event to take place.

'There are many people to thank, but groups donating this year have included the New Year Tavy Strollers, Tavistock Lions and Tavistock Twinning Association.

'Tavistock Area Support Services have once again provided mini-buses and drivers to pick up and take home our guests.

'Those who come very much appreciate the kindness shown by others at this family time of year.

'I am already looking forward to Christmas 2013.'
