Tavistock U13s 7
Exmouth U13s 30
IN only their second match of the season Tavistock turned out in atrocious weather to face one of the county's strongest sides in the Devon cup match.
In the early stages Exmouth had the majority of possession but were held back by good tackling by Michael Fowler and Henry Wallace. The scrum performed well and did not lose a single scrum all match with Tom Ewings and Alex Pickard providing a solid front row.
Tavistock got more into the game as the half progressed with good runs from William Pickard and Daniel Smith and were rewarded by a converted try from William Pickard to reduce the deficit to eight points at half-time.
In the second half Tavistock were stretched by two 5ft 10ins 13-year-old Exmouth players who required a number of players to bring them to ground.
Christopher Macrae kicked well and Ben Williams was solid at full back. Towards the end, Tavistock tired and Exmouth ran in a number of tries but in the conditions it was a heroic performance from the home side.
Thanks were expressed to the four under 12s who were completely unfazed by the much larger opposition.
