Bideford ladies 2

Tavistock CFC ladies 1

PLAYING the bottom of the league side, Tavistock should have done better, but they struggled with poor passing on a hard surface. Tavistock started well and were stronger but a breakaway goal after 30 minutes saw Tavistock one down.

Donna Weeks returned from injury for Tavistock, teaming up with Turner.

The back four of player of the match Glasspoole, Coker, Maloney and John tackled well but Tavistock could not find the goal. Wingers Hone and Bammons worked hard but once again it was the last ball in that let Tavistock down.

The second half saw Hurley and Hammond helping out at the back but midfield were non existent for a time. However, from a quick throw-in from Turner it was passed to Hone before Hammond drove home a 30 yard shot into the roof of the net to even the score line. The ladies started to struggle with the heat and Bideford, who were able to put out four subs, began to gain control. Tavistock will play them again on Langsford park this Sunday in their last fixture when manager Sue Hammond will take the field for a short time in her retirement from football. All support welcome.

Tavistock CFC ladies will be next playing at the Son-Rise cup festival in May.
