EXTRA buses are being run during weekdays between Callington and Tavistock to connect with trains at Gunnislake Station.
The improvements will take place from next week (September 28) on DAC Coaches bus route 79/X79 with more buses to meet the demands of commuters and shoppers.
The new 79A service will go via St Dominick, Bohetherick, Cotehele Mill, St Dominic Park, Harrowbarrow, Cox Park, Calstock and Gunnislake. There will be two return trips a day, offering shopping opportunities to both Tavistock and Callington.
In addition there will be a new town service link in Callington to the Village Collection, serving Bocconoc Avenue and Werrington Drive on Monday to Friday, and extra buses at busy shopping times between Calstock, Gunnislake and Tavistock.
The changes are being introduced in conjunction with Cornwall Council and the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership.
Nick Smith from DAC Coaches said: 'The new Village Collection buses are as a result of consultation with the local residents' association and we hope these improvements in general will offer new opportunities for travel by bus between Callington and Tavistock and by bus and train to Plymouth and beyond.'
