Bere Alston United 5

Bodmin Town 0

BERE striker Chris Bray helped himself to all five goals as Bere swept aside a poor Bodmin side at the Recreation Field on Saturday. Boosted by last weeks cup win, Bere started brightly amid torrential rain and were in front inside five minutes when Bray scored the first of his five goals with a blistering free kick from 25 yards.

Five minutes later and Bray rounded off a fine move to drive home his second and completed his hat-trick in the 18th minute when he latched onto a through ball from Paul Simpson and slotted in the rebound after his original shot had been parried by the Bodmin keeper. Pressure on the Bodmin goal continued with Bray, Marcus Pethick and Dan Follett all missing chances.

The opening 15 minutes of the second half was a bit scrappy and further Bere chances went begging as Ryan McShane and Will Westlake both shot wide when well placed.

On the hour and with Bere keeper Mark Wheeler a virtual spectator, Chris Bray raced onto another Simpson through ball to nutmeg the Bodmin keeper for his fourth and five minutes later he took Ryan McShane's pass to fire home his fifth. Dan Follett had a goal disallowed for offside and Bray had another effort cleared off the line as Bere ran out convincing winners.
