Duchy division two

Bere Alston Reserves 3

St Breward 1

BERE started the game brightly and could have taken the lead within the first minute as a ball to the back post by Hammond was nodded just over the bar by Doyle.

Doyle then had another chance to open the scoring after decent work down the left by Robins left him in space to get a shot away that was well saved. Bere looked at risk on the counter attack with St Breward's midfield passing the ball around well before a half cleared long ball fell to Olly Mitchell on the edge of the area who smashed the ball into the top corner of the Bere net.

Bere lifted their game after the goal and forced a series of corners. A Mackintosh corner was not dealt with in the six yard box and after a scramble Mckinnon forced the ball over the line to equalise.

The second half started brightly although players' injuries were starting to take affect.

Bere went ahead when Robins, who had been running the St Breward right back ragged, latched onto a Harvey flick and finished superbly. Bere were completely dominant at this point and it seemed only a matter of time before Bere got their third goal. Bere had further chances through Waldren, Harvey and Mackintosh. However injuries to centre back Burns and Derbyshire led to manager Backaller entering the fray. Bere were still the team on top with Doyle causing problems upfront and Robins on the left.

Then after consecutive Mackintosh corners the ball bounced around in the box and fell to Doyle who stabbed home a well deserved goal.

St Breward came back slicing a decent chance wide from close range, but Bere's defence stood tall with Jinman and Hammond dominating. Bere did however have another chance as makeshift striker Burns laid the ball to Backaller who backheeled the ball to Mackintosh whose shot was well saved by the keeper.
