After two years of the show having been cancelled at the last minute due to covid, this year’s 72nd Bere Ferrers Spring Flower Show went ahead with the usual riot of colour and scent.

Row upon row of daffodils of every size, colour and type were central, with additional classes for camellias, other spring blooms and garden produce. There were also flower arranging classes, domestic and photography.

This year’s theme was ‘The Queen’s long reign’. Daffodil entries were about the same as usual, but there was a slight reduction in some of the other classes.

Ron Scamp, RHS master grower from Falmouth – many of whose varieties were exhibited at the show – presented the prizes and stressed how happy he was to do so. Judge for the Decorative section this year was RHS Chelsea Gold Medal winner Amanda Randell Cox.

The committee remembered lifelong supporter of the show, Iris Snell, who had died recently and who will be sorely missed. Iris had firstly exhibited as a child, then as a floral art demonstrator and had been a committee member for over 40 years, having been a Decorative section judge for many years.
