Yelverton 1sts v Woodbury
YELVERTON remain at the top of the table after recording their eighth victory out of nine matches when they defeated Woodbury at Langton Park.
Skipper Rob Guy won the toss and put the visitors in to bat. Woodbury attacked the Yelverton opening bowlers from the start but lost early wickets in doing so and were 47-3 after 11 overs.
It was the introduction of Rob Guy's slow left arm spin that stemmed the flow of runs as he went for just 29 runs off his 13 overs and took 3 wickets. Sanjiv Shrivastav returned to form with 4 wickets as Woodbury were all out for 182.
For the visitors' opening bat Greenslade held the innnings together with a patient 57 as he almost batted through to the end.
In reply, Yelverton reached 52 without loss before Farnham (29) was lbw to Miller (2-22). The home side then lost 4 wickets for 15 runs when a succession of lbw decisions went against them. The innings was rebuilt by Bennett (53) and Stevens (32) as they put on 68 for the 5th wicket. Some late order hitting from Shrivastav (17) and Rutherford (18) took Yelverton home with 2 overs left.
Yelverton 20 points, Woodbury 7 points.
Man of the match: Rob Bennett.
Next match: Cullompton (A), Saturday July 26.
