FREE sessions about benefits and tax credits are being offered to parents and carers in West Devon in a campaign to raise awareness among families of their entitlements. The campaign, run by Devon Welfare Rights Unit in partnership with Barnardo's Childrens' Centres, will involve two sessions which will include basic information about benefits and tax credits, including about forthcoming changes in the benefit rules and the reductions in entitlement.

DWRU will be answering general questions about benefits and tax credits at the sessions and will also be able to direct people for further advice as necessary. The aim is to show people how to go about making sure that they are receiving their maximum entitlement to benefits and tax credits and to demonstrate how work affects entitlement.

Parents and carers of children at any pre-school, nursery, toddler group or childcare setting in West Devon, staff or volunteers working with children and families are also welcome to attend.

The sessions will be on January 27, at the Alexander Centre in Tavistock from 10am to noon, and at the Ockment Centre in Okehampton from 1pm to 3pm.
