Belstone Cricket Club held their annual dinner at Okehampton Golf Club. Chairman Wayne Pearce reviewed a disjointed season which saw 12 matches cancelled and only 28 games played, the lowest number since the club re-formed in 1993. Of these 13 were won and 14 lost with one abandoned after 15 minutes due to rain.
In the South Devon League division two only three matches were completed out of an initial ten; by winning two of these Belstone finished securely in mid-table. The club finished second in the evening 20-over Buckley Cup. Richard Drake went home with five trophies: Hammond bat centurion for his 110 not out; the Woodward Cup for batsman of the year for his season's aggregate of 610 runs at an average of 38.13; the fielding award (shared with Phil Woods) for eight outfield catches; an award for finishing top of the A Division in the player points league; and the clubman of the year .
Other awards: Barton best bowling award to Chris Gomersall; Telecare Cup for best overall bowling average to Jonathan Parsons; Duck Cup to Matt Dennis for his five noughts; best young cricketer was Thomas Boother; winner of the B division of the player points league was Colt Henry Holmes; the ladies' award went to Marion Walpole; Simon Tremain won the good servants trophy for his work with the Colts section; and the Club's umpire Sam Dodsworth won the non-playing members' award.
