FIREFIGHTERS from Yelverton and Bere Alston were called to tackle a blaze which severely damaged the bedroom of a house near Yelverton last Friday night. The crews were called to Uppaton Farm at 7pm, when firefighters using breathing apparatus and two hosereels extinguished the flames. Leading firefighter Alan Brown said the bedroom was ?well alight? by the time the crews arrived on the scene. He said: ?Luckily. the owner, after detecting the fire, had the sense to close the doors, which confined the fire to the single bedroom.? There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the origin of the blaze, said Mr Brown.
