TAVISTOCK'S historic Bedford Hotel is to get a facelift this year as part of owner Regal Hotel's investment plan.
Four conifers which were damaging the facade of the Grade II Listed building have already been removed and will be replaced by new trees as part of the landscaping scheme.
Mervyn White, general manager of the hotel said: 'Regal Hotels are great believers in ploughing money back into their hotels and obviously the Bedford Hotel has been overdue a facelift for quite a while.'
Mr White said a lot of the windows would be replaced or repaired and painted, along with railings outside the building. New light fittings will be fitted, illuminating the hotel for the first time in several months.
'Also the entrance to the hotel is going to be totally redecorated,' added Mr White.
The work will be carried out throughout this year.
