THE Sir Francis Drake Bowls Club of Tavistock has just received a welcome addition to its fundraising campaign, which aims to extend facilities at its Plymouth Road base.

The Bedford Hotel has given the club £500 towards its extension project. The scheme would mean the indoor short mat bowlers would be able to use the same club, providing all year round facilities for members and the wider community.

The extension plans also include new toilets for disabled and able bodied use.

A spokesperson for the club said: 'The overall appeal is to give everyone, young or older, a chance to participate in one of the sports, in or outdoors.'

The club has extended thanks to the Bedford Hotel for its generous donation.
