Newton Abbot Ladies 0
Tavistock Ladies 53
TAVISTOCK Ladies rugby team played their first away fixture of the season and while the final score was flattering a lot more hard work will be needed when facing stronger opposition.
Clare White had a fantastic game, scoring four of the nine tries — when she had the ball in hand near the tryline it was almost impossible to stop her.
Four new players made their debut for Tavistock on Sunday, all making a great impact on the game. Becky Utton managed to power her way over and score in her first match. Helen King also scored a try, having played a stunning game in the centre. She is clearly going to be a great asset.
Other newcomers include Rachel Briggs who made some great runs with the ball and some phenomenal tackles, and Bo Coulton, following in her sister's footsteps, managed to make some great catches from high ball.
Other try-scorers were Kate Blake, Wiz Frances and Mandy Blackmore. Two conversions were made by both Kate Blake and Teri Cole.
If any women or girls would like to 'have a go' the club will be at Tavistock College this Saturday at 10am. Other sports will also be represented.
