MOORLAND, riverside and woodland scenery will be enjoyed by the people who turn out to beat the bounds of St Andrew's parish, Buckland Monachorum, later this month.
The 16-mile millennium celebration walk takes in a variety of beautiful West Devon countryside and begins in Buckland village square.
Different groups will be looking after sections of the walk, between Bedford, Grenofen and Denham bridges, Lopwell Dam and Higher Lodge. All the groups are hoping to raise money for their various causes.
The causes include The Cancer Research Campaign, Children's Hospice South West, Buckland Scouts, St Andrew's School and Buckland Barbarians RFC.
The groups will mark each section of the walk, provide soft drinks, first aid and transport back to the village for those who only wish to complete a section of the total route.
The walk begins at 9.30am on Saturday, May 20 — all are welcome.
l Toys, toiletries, games or glassware — there will be goodies galore on offer to bargain-hunters at a sale in Buckland Monachorum next week.
The bric-a-brac sale is being held to raise money for Children's Hospice South West and organisers hope there will be plenty to keep the visitors browsing.
Anyone who would like to donate items, particularly plants, silver, glass, china, pictures, books, toys, toiletries, tapes or games should bring their contributions to the Village Hall between 10am and 12.30pm on the day of the sale, Saturday May 13. It begins at 2.30pm.
