I FEEL very strongly that your readers should be made aware of the parking policy in operation behind Tavistock Post Office. Every Friday at 8.30am I go as a volunteer to the recording studio behind the post office/Spar in Tavistock to help with the 'Talking Newspapers for the Blind'. On February 13 it was so wet and windy that my husband dropped me outside the studio. I then realised I had forgotten my glasses, so he drove home and returned approximately 15 minutes later with them and went home again. Imagine our surprise when we received a parking penalty notice for £100 (£60 if paid promptly). We immediately wrote to 'Premier Park' explaining the circumstances ie, the car hadn't actually been parked at all, just briefly stopped outside the studio. We had a reply this week saying they had examined the evidence and our appeal was denied! We were at fault but they would reduce the fine to £36. I'm afraid we paid the fine as the tone of the letter was quite threatening. Needless to say we were furious. Please take care when using this car park and do not forget your glasses.
