Tavistock Pumas 2 PML 1 WITH certain players from PML sat high in the attacking ?D?, Kevin Lethbridge and Fiona Dunn made sure they were marked out of the game in order to prevent any dominant attacks being made. The midfield play of Matt Way, John Barratt and Sarah Barratt was excellent and these players switched the ball from the left to the right of the pitch. This enabled the speedy legs of Laura Armstrong, Dom Lovett and Robynne Honey to penetrate the ?D? and make some attacks on the goalkeeper. The defence of PML cleared the ball away strongly and it appeared that the only aspect of the game the Pumas were lacking was more strength on the ball being sent into the ?D?. Tom Honey had a good game and let his stick skills shine as he took the ball past numerous opposition. If the ball did make it past the half-way line then Lethbridge, Barratt and Dunn marked up the players and the attack was soon ended. Goalkeeper, James Pitts, gave some good early calls resulting in the Pumas not letting any opposition have a shot on goal. A short corner was awarded against the Pumas but Barratt, Dunn and Sarah Barratt were out far too quick for the opposition and PML lost their chance. The ball was fed to Way who drove it down the pitch and slotted it neatly past the keeper. This motivated the team and as Chris Wilson came into play with ?fresh? legs the Puma?s began to lift their game. Numerous short corners were awarded to the Pumas but the team could not capitalise on these situations. It was not long before Tom Honey scored the second goal of the match. Tavistock knew this was a good lead but the opposition had a break and unfortunately the Pumas were outnumbered in the ?D? allowing PML to score their first goal of the match. The Pumas continued to battle well and the opposition never got another look in.
