TAVISTOCK Netball League?s season came to a close on Sunday. Although final positions had already been decided it did not prevent the season ending with a bang.
The first game was one of the most closely fought matches of the season between newly formed team Red Devils and Rentafford.
The lead changed hands many times and despite entering the final quarter ahead of Rentafford, Red Devils were unable to pull away and were overtaken by the more experienced side.
Final score Rentafford 24, Red Devils 22.
The second game again saw a new team pitched against a more experienced side. Delaware?s strong attack did not take long to establish a firm lead which was strengthened throughout the game.
Final score: Red Devils 10, Delaware 49.
This week sees the playing of the league?s charity tournament to mark the end of the season.
The tournament, in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer, has attracted the attention of netball players both new and old throughout the South West. The fun tournament will be played at Tavistock College on Sunday May 23, starting at 9.30am for registration.
There will be refreshments available and Active Sports have donated a netball used by the England squad during the Commonwealth Games in order to boost donations for the charity.
All players new or old are invited to come along and spectators are also welcome.
