East Cornwall Youth League Biscovey U13s 3 Lifton U13s 4 ALTHOUGH Lifton started the brighter side it was a Biscovey player who scored the first goal by beating the outstretched hand of away goalkeeper George Hirons with a great shot from the edge of the 18 yard box. With both teams at the foot of the table each side was hungry for the much needed three points. Lifton soon recovered from their early set back to get back into the game with a well taken goal from their captain, and man of the match, Ben Williams. Both defences worked hard with Josh Hockridge and Brendan Hearn shining at the heart of the Lifton defence alongside Wayne Northam and Haydn Bennett at their reliable best. The second half saw the introduction of Lifton's Ben Houghton to the action. Both teams were creating plenty of chances, especially Bradley Monk on the left wing, but it was again Williams who cut the defence in half for Ryan Batten to score the first of his hat-trick. Biscovey fired straight back and again their number seven pounced on some slack Lifton defending to make it 2-2. Both goalkeepers made some great saves which kept both teams in the hunt. The home side were now looking more confident and were chasing a winner. From a Biscovey corner Lifton's Hockridge and Ryan Turner managed to clear the ball to Batten, who ran from inside his own half to beat three players before drilling the ball into the bottom right hand corner. Again Biscovey's number seven scored, this time with his head, to cap a great individual performance and pull his team back to 3-3. However, it was Batten who had the final word sealing his hat trick after good work on the wing from Monk, Ryan Hancock and John Bray.
