BATS men?s team completed their matches in division B of the Plymouth and District Badminton League with a title-clinching encounter with YMCA Kitto.
Going into the match the team knew they only had to get three points to take the division but the pressure was on them to gain the result.
In the first round of games Paul Bitton and Mike Ward found the Kitto pair too strong for them and went down 6-15, 5-15. The other game saw Gavin Leithal and Jonathon Freeman settle the quickest in their two games and take them 15-10, 15-10.
The second round saw Paul and Jonathon take time to settle against the Kitto opposition. They lost the first game 10-15 but rallied in the second to take it comfortably 15-5: BATS had the three points that they needed to take the division.
The other game saw Mike and Gavin relax and take the two games 15-8, 15-7.
With the division now won the BATS players turned on the style in the third round of games, taking three out of the four played. In the first pair Paul and Gavin won the first game 15-13 but slipped up in the second, losing it 8-15.
Mike and Jonathon on the other hand took their games to the Kitto pair and took both games 15-9, 15-9.
At the end of the evening BATS had won the match 8-4 and, more importantly the division. Congratulations go to Gavin Leithal who, having played his last match for BATS, will be off to university in September.
