MEMBERS of BATs (Bere Alston Trekkers) took part in the Bere Peninsula 10k at the weekend. The club, appearing in their racing vests for the first time, were slightly nervous at running on ?home-ground?. The race, which was hosted by Bere Community Project, is predominantly a 3 mile down, 3 mile up loop back to the village. The hills, which included Ley Lane, are gruelling and appear to be never ending, however, the race ended on a long down hill back to the finish at the school. There were three debuts for Bats; Katie Laing, Sue Collins and Peter Churcher. Sue is new to both Bere Alston and Bats and Peter was running his first race since leaving school. Sue and Peter both collected prizes for their age groups.
