FOUR Bats (Bere Alston Trekker's) took to the streets of London earlier this month to run the Flora London Marathon. All Bats were running for the first time (and say for the last time) and achieved incredible times. Apart from the odd shower of hail the weather was perfect and the crowds were amazing. Bats raised more than £5,000 for Phab Kids (Pam Adams), Spinal Research (Laurence and Mary Sargeant) and Tommy's (Sam Gadd). The runners would like to thank everyone for sponsoring and supporting them in their efforts. The club also congratulated all those athletes from Tavistock Athletic Club who also achieved some very good times — Tony Symons, Kirk England, Paul Marshall, Fiona Dunn and Colin Eaves.
