A BARN dance at Mary Tavy last week collected a total of £400 for a cancer charity and raised awareness of a new cancer service in the area. The event at the Coronation Hall on Saturday was organised by George Mudge, who lives near Princetown, to raise money for ICON, Integrated Cancer and Oncology News — a magazine which explains all aspects of fighting cancer. Also during the event Mr Mudge supplied leaflets for participants to read, on the thermal imaging service, which he runs from home with three qualified women. Mr Mudge said: 'I set up the service last year in memory of my late wife who died from cancer. I want to give people the opportunity to have the chance to detect breast abnormality early.'
