MORE than 500 homes and businesses were without power after a cable fault occurred in Tavistock on Monday.

The fault, at 2.25pm, left premises cut off in the Plymouth Road area. By late afternoon supplies had been restored to all but 49 premises. These were returned to power by 10.20pm.

A spokesperson for Western Power said the problem was a cable termination and it was likely that the damage was caused by lighting at some stage.
