TAVISTOCK Town Band entered the National Championship Area Qualifying contest in Bristol recently and came a very pleasing eighth out of 29 bands in their section.
This was under the conductorship of Denzil Stevens, an eminently qualified brass bandsman who normally adjudicates at such events.
Members are very pleased with the result and look forward to preparing for their next contest.
The band has gone from strength to strength in the past four years under the leadership of Tony Evans, who's recent departure has left a void which will be difficult to fill and members of the band were sorry to see him leave. They have competed in contests across the region with very good results.
At present the band are planning to hold concerts in the square during the summer and will take part in various other events to represent the town.
