THERE will be no Balloon Fiesta in Okehampton?s Simmons Park this July, after the planned event had to be cancelled.

However, it is hoped the event can be rescheduled for September or October.

Organisers were hoping to hold the balloon festival in conjunction with the annual Okehampton Festival of Sport run by OCRA.

Last year, Okehampton held its first ever balloon festival in July.

The event was a success, but was described by organisers as only a taster to what would be on offer at a more spectacular event this year.

Okehampton town clerk Don Bent said the council was sad to see the cancellation of the event, but was hopeful it could still take place later in the year.
