Devon Intermediate Cup

Buckland Monachorum Milton and Crapstone 0

Lamerton 3

LAMERTON got off to a slow start but gradually began to pass the ball around the park and play nice football but unfortunately could not find the finish.

This enabled Buckland's confidence to grow and it was the hosts who had two opportunities to open the scoring.

The first coming as the Buckland forward latched on to a Simon Breyley mistake on the edge of the box to be through on goal but the angled shot being well saved by Daniel in the Lamerton goal.

Ten minutes later and a curling shot heading for the top corner from the same Buckland player 18 yards out was well saved by the full stretch Pete Daniel.

Lamerton became more dominant and Dave Ball and the excellent Paul Breyley were running the show for Lamerton in midfield, with James Steer in excellent form on the right wing.

Liam Mills drafted into right back had a solid half as did Simon Breyley and Steve Lake at the heart of defence.

The changing moment of the game came when a Buckland player handled the ball in the box for a penalty. Dave Ball stepped up and although it was a poorly taken penalty managed to scramble in the rebound to make it 1-0 to Lamerton.

Five minutes had passed and Lamerton on the attack again had a shot come back off the cross bar and as the ball fell to Paul Breyley on the edge of the box he unleashed a fierce volley straight back into the bottom left hand corner to double the lead.

The second half being one way traffic for Lamerton as Buckland heads had dropped.

Forward Rossi Hann for Lamerton played unselfishly to try and play his team mates in on goal.

The third and final goal of the game was scored again by Paul Breyley who popped up at the back post to volley home.

This week Lamerton play St Teath, kick-off 2.30pm.
