A SINGLE storey detached barn containing livestock and around 200 large bales of hay caught fire last Tuesday night (July 19). Two fire appliances from Okehampton and a water carrier were called out to a farm at Folly Gate at 8pm. Around 50 bales of hay were severely damaged by fire and removed to open ground by a front loader. All the livestock were removed to an open field. Firefighters used two sets of breathing apparatus and two hose reels to put out the flames.
