GIDLEIGH Park's celebrity chef Michael Caines (right) is supporting Hospiscare's Big Devon Bake Off with his very own special recipe. The Michelin starred chef has given a caramelised lemon tart recipe for bakers to use in their own bake off competitions, tea parties or coffee mornings next month. Susie Healey, Hospiscare community fundraiser, said: 'We are so excited to have the support of such a well known local celebrity chef. 'I can't wait to make this tart and hope bakers all over Devon will join me in making it too. This fabulous recipe will be a great centre piece for your Big Devon Bake Off during September 13 to 21. 'We have 28 community nurses covering a wide area of Devon and it would be great if local communities supported us. We're asking everybody to get their friends, family, and colleagues together, join the baking craze and raise some dough for Hospiscare.  'Bake your trusty old favourite or try out something new, if you're feeling competitive hold a bake off competition  and nominate somebody to be your Mary Berry or Paul Hollywood, or just get together, have fun and eat some baked goodies. Hold the bake off at home, work or school, in your local village or community hall or wherever you fancy.' Hospiscare provides free and specialised nursing to the terminally ill in Exeter, Mid and East Devon. It looks after 650 patients at any one time, supporting patients in their own homes, in its hospice and day hospices. It relies on the generosity of the community to provide this vital service which costs £5-million a year. The Big Devon Bake Off is one of Hospiscare's major fundraising events this year.
