THE Great British Bake Off is now back on television screens – and before the end of term, Okehampton Primary School children got in the spirit of the contest with a bake off of their own. The school's Year 3 classes learnt how to make cupcakes and then designed their own recipes, which included additional ingredients and different topping flavours and designs. As well as writing recipes and baking the cakes they designed, pupils also put together pitches to persuade a judging panel to choose their cake. The pitches included television adverts, posters and songs the children had written. The panel was made up of head teacher Hazel Fox and school governor John Lawlor. After watching the pitches and tasting the cupcakes, they chose a winning cupcake design from each of the three classes and these were baked to sell at the school fayre.
