BADMINTON is back in Okehampton — despite a real low in recent years the newly formed club is bursting with people wanting to play.

Temporary leisure manager for OCRA Ruth Thorne said she could not believe it when 50 people turned up to play following an article about the new club in the Okehampton Times recently.

'A few die-hard Badminton enthusiasts used to come and play at the sports hall every week but there has not been a club in the town for some time,' she said.

'Now it's really taken off and we hope to start to team and have matches here. The atmosphere is great with a whole range of abilities playing — I even started playing and I don't play badminton.'The club meets every Monday night from 8pm to 10pm
