A DELICIOUS breakfast was served up in Bere Alston parish hall recently raising hundreds of pounds for charity.

The Bere Alston BATS raise funds for national and local charities on a regular basis and the breakfast event was their latest fundraising venture.

The tantalising aromas drew a steady stream of people into the hall, and the members, including waiters George and Luther, worked furiously producing a variety of food in the new kitchen.

In only three hours, £750 was raised for village groups.

The sum included the proceeds of a raffle, cake stall and several donations from people who were unable to attend.

Thanks were expressed to all who supported the event.

Further fundraising activities have been planned, the first of which is a run of one, three or six miles on March 25 for the Parish Hall Sport Relief, which will raise funds for further events.

The Bere Pen 10K race will take place on May 6 as part of the carnival celebrations, and a village relay race on July 13.

More marshals are needed for these events, anyone who would like to volunteer should contact [email protected]">[email protected] for more details.
