A GROUP of parents from Horrabridge went back to school recently to brush up on their literacy skills. The six-week course at the village primary school was to help parents support their children at home and update their knowledge on how literacy is taught in school these days. Organised by ?Parents Learning, Children Learning? the course involved looking at how children acquire reading skills, focusing on phonics, grammar and punctuation and observing a literacy session in the classroom. The parents also had homework to do ? sharing and making books with their children, playing literacy games and fun story writing. They are pictured with course tutor Jennie Peach and their certificates which were presented in recognition of their hard work.
