Tavistock A 0 Truro 1 TAVISTOCK men?s hockey team are still struggling to come to terms with the increase in the standard in their first season in the South West 1 League. Having restructured the defence, this was a more positive display and on balance Tavistock probably should have won. The strikes on goal were numerous but none were capitalised on. Great work in the midfield by Edwards and Barratt kept the attack moving forward and with penetrating breaks from Honey and Frost, linking with Andrews and Alford a score looked likely. Tavistock were solid at the back with Costello marshalling the home defence. The visitors? defence was breached frequently but the keeper was always reactive or a timely tackle was placed. Truro scored what proved to be the winning goal a minute before half time, which led to an impassioned second half. Many short corners were awarded to Tavistock but to no avail, where this had always been a reliable source of points in the past. Tavistock can be pleased with a much improved team performance and hope to take this to Camborne next Saturday. Man of the match: Gareth George.
