Jackson Vending Devon & Exeter Intermediate 1

Westexe 1

South Zeal 0

ZEAL left Westexe on Saturday with nothing, having outplayed the opposition for most of the game.

In the first half, although both teams had chances, it stayed goalless with Dan Pengelly going close twice for Zeal and Dave Wooldridge in the Zeal goal making a couple of great saves.

In the second half it was all Zeal, but apart from a couple of good efforts from Garry Smith and Steve Pillivant they could not penetrate the Westexe defence and threw men forward in an effort to get a winning goal.

With seven minutes left Westexe hit a hopeful ball into the Zeal penalty area. Dave Wooldridge came to the edge of his area to challenge the Westexe forward and the ball broke well for the attacker - he scored well from an acute angle.

Zeal pushed forward with more urgency but could not get the equaliser and for the second time this season left with nothing, having been the better team on both occasions.

This week home to Dunkeswell, kick-off 2.30pm.
