SWIMMING for Launceston Masters Swimming Club, Bob Williamson from Bratton Clovelly won three titles at the Cornwall County ASA?s Masters Gala held recently at St Ives.
He was placed first in the 50m backstroke, 50m freestyle and the 4x1 individual medley. His freestyle time was a PB in this category.
The gala in this new pool was well attended with 50 male and 38 female entrants. Eight clubs from all over the county contested the individual and relay events.
Fielding a strong team of both men and women, Launceston finished top of the individual classification with 300 points, a mere four ahead of Truro, followed by St Austell, Bude and Penzance. Competition was extremely close, and the final result depended on the last race.
Truro gained their revenge in the relays which score double points, with Launceston second and Carn Brea third. However, Launceston won the overall team championship with 398 points to Truro?s 390, followed by St Austell, Bude and Carn Brea.
