MEAVY Amateur Dramatics proudly present their latest pantomime 'Babes in the (Burrator) Woods' from Tuesday February 7 through to Saturday February 11.
The panto has another hilarious and imaginative script from Sam Regan de Bere and Liz Tompkins, following on from the huge success of their version of Jack and the Beanstalk last year.
The tale is set in medieval Meavy, where the villagers are simple folk, fearful of the nearby Burrator forest and the big bad wolf that lurks within, especially when the local livestock starts to disappear.
When the Bishop of Exeter arrives to preach fire and brimstone and squash all colour from their lives things go from bad to worse. These gentle people have already tried to adhere to the moral standards set down by the Abbott and Abbess but with the Meavy youngsters being naturally cheeky and the ladies unable to resist the lure of the speakeasy with its dodgy moonshine, trouble is afoot.
What can Hansel and Gretel do to bring happiness into the lives of these good village people? Who will track down the big bad wolf?
Come and meet Clementia, Hansel's widowed mother and a whole bunch of animals and dancing trees . . .
This year, due to sellout performances, MAD invites audiences to purchase tickets for the full dress rehearsal on Tuesday February 7. Tickets are discounted to £3 with a free interval ice cream and are available from Yelverton Stores.
