OKEHAMPTON Smallbore Club's A team lost their round 9 match in the North Devon League and at this halfway stage lie in fourth position in division 1, having won three and drawn one of their nine matches.

The B team had a resounding victory over Tiverton C — with a score better than the A team's! — and are leading division 3 by a wide margin, having lost just one of their nine matches.

Round 9 scores — Okehampton A: Glenn Farley 98; Ivan Trickey 96; Bernard Rendle 95; Malcolm Flemons 93. Total: 382 lost to Pinhoe B 388.

Okehampton B: John Pettitt 98; Graham Spier 97; Glyn Flemons 96; Di Johnson 94. Total: 385 beat Tiverton C 361.

The Okehampton A team were unlucky to be knocked out of the Kynoch Shield competition at the second stage.

They had an excellent score of 598 for their team of six, the same as their opponents, Watts Blake Bearne A. But when the cards were scored again with a larger gauge to separate the two, Watts Blake Bearne retained their score while Okehampton dropped three more points and are out of the competition.

The B team went out in the first round.
