Captain Smith, 44, led the fight back supported by Rowe, 23, and Jenkins, 22, but two tight accurate spells by Andy Gauler, 3 for 3 off 13 overs, and Ben Neale, 0 for 33 off 11 overs, kept the score under check. Baker returned to mop up the tail with figures of 13 overs, 5 for 22. In reply Tavistock got off to a slow but steady start. After 10 overs Tavistock had only scored 16. Paul Strawbridge took up the mantel, hitting a six and six fours in his total of 47. When he was out Cashell soon followed and there were a few frayed nerves in the Tavistock camp. McGahey and Kaminski repaired the damage. Kaminski hit a bright 18 before being caught and bowled. This left captain McGahey (36) to hit the winning runs with a square cut off Rowe for four. This meant that Tavistock were promoted to the B division of the Devon League.
