PGSOB?s 1 Tavistock ?B? 4 TAVISTOCK travelled to Plymouth looking for another win after a five- nil victory the previous week. With team morale high and their opponents with one win all season, it looked an easy victory on paper. Tavistock started the game well even though a little complacency crept in as the Tavistock forwards failed to find the goal even after a number of short corner routines. PGSOB struggled to find a way into Tavistock?s ?D? as Wills and Roberts defended well resulting in goalkeeper Matthews being rarely troubled. When Mackintosh had to go off injured, Cowan Jnr was brought on and the team had to be slightly adjusted as the team still looked for that elusive opening goal. As the interval approached PGs seemed to have the upper hand. With the second half under way, PGs carried the game to Tavistock, and started to penetrate the last third of the pitch. Tavistock midfielders Young and Curno, battled hard but could not break down PG?s penetrating runs as they had done in the first half. PG?s finally managed a shot on goal but this was thwarted by Roberts? foot and a penalty flick was awarded. Matthews was unlucky not to save the shot. It was the first time this season Tavistock were chasing a result. In the next 15 minutes Holland scored twice with two well taken individual goals. Doney and Curno also added to the total and Matthews saved a penalty flick. The three points were now safe. The win took Tavistock to second in the League on goal difference and the games now leading up to Christmas will be a real test of character as the matches will be against stronger opposition. Man of the match: Adam Holland.
