Bodmin Trophies Duchy Premier Lamerton 4 Gunnislake 1 LAMERTON gained revenge for the 5-1 defeat inflicted on them by Gunnislake earlier in the season. The visitors had the better of the opening until Zac Beesley put Lamerton ahead. His hunger saw him nip ahead of the hesitant Gunnislake keeper to tap into an empty net from six yards. The goal was the key moment of the match as Lamerton went on to dominate. Number two came from a free kick into the box and a push on Steve Gibbings resulting in a penalty. Kev Swift converted. It was 3-0 by half-time when a long ball up the line was brilliantly kept in by Beesley's first touch, which saw him wrong foot the defender. He cut into the box and squared for Dave Byworth who shot straight at the keeper with his right, but blasted in the rebound with his left. The second half saw two sending offs and a 40-minute delay as Gunnislake's Matt Avery dislocated a knee and an ambulance was required. Gunnislake defender Nathan May was dismissed for a professional foul on James Healy as he went one on one with the keeper and Beesley walked near the end for an unnecessary foul and refusal to co-operate with the referee. In between, Steve Gibbings made it 4-0 with a looping header. Gunnislake got their consolation through a Jarryd Kelly penalty. l This Saturday Lamerton are away to Dobwalls, 2.30pm. Duchy 5 Gunnislake 4 Stratton 2 GUNNISLAKE came away with a much needed win against promotion rivals Stratton. The game flowed from end to end throughout the first half. Gunnislake opened the scoring after excellent work by Darren Sambells who pounced on a mix up in the Stratton defence to leave Wayne Moussalli with a simple tap in. Stratton responded and hit back inside ten minutes with a superb 20-yard free kick from John Clayton giving Gunnislake keeper Mark Southcott no chance. Gunnislake midfielder Joe Pulley was next to put his mark on the game with a 25-yard dipping volley which left the Stratton keeper standing. With both teams desperate to gain three points, the second half continued at the same pace. Stratton equalised after 50 minutes through Andy Heywood. Gunnislake, orchestrated by Neil Kinger and Andy Southcott, were soon to take the lead again with Southcott going on a mazy run before finshing from the edge of the area on 57 minutes. Gunnislake were awarded a penalty after 60 minutes, but a fine save by the Stratton keeper denied Kinger and from the resulting corner Steve Gaggini hit the post. On 65 minutes this game was turned on its head when an innocuous challenge resulted in a flash point and three players were sent off, two from Stratton, giving Gunnislake the edge. Gunnislake pushed forward and Wayne Moussalli put the game beyond doubt with a composed finish. This was a well deserved win and puts Gunnislake firmly back in title contention.
