THE Tavonians Theatre Company held a very successful play reading of Calendar Girls recently and everyone was keen that the play should be given as a full production. It will be presented at The Wharf in November and auditions take place next Wednesday, April 17.

Calendar Girls is a moving and very funny story about a WI group who raise funds for the hospital where the husband of one of the women was treated for leukaemia. The production by The Tavonians will benefit the Leukaemia Charity. The Saturday performance will be a gala event, raising funds for Macmillan and given in memory of people who have been associated with the group.

The auditions will be upstairs in the Guide Hall in Bedford Car Park at 7.30pm. Anyone who cannot get to the audition on Wednesday can still have an opportunity to audition and should contact the director, Stuart Waterworth. Everyone is welcome and those who are not currently members would need to join to take on a role, either on stage or behind-the-scenes. Rehearsals start in early September.

A full list of the characters is given on at http://www.tavonians.org.uk">www.tavonians.org.uk A script can be lent before the auditions and anyone who would like one, or who has any other queries about the play, should contact either Stuart Waterworth on 01822 614792, email [email protected]">[email protected] or call the Tavonians on 0845 519 6592.

The Tavonians next production, A Totally Unreliable History of Tavistock, will be given as part of the Tavistock Festival on Friday, April 26 at The Wharf. Information and tickets are available from http://www.tavonians.org.uk">www.tavonians.org.uk
