AUDITIONS for The Tavonians Theatre Company's production of 'A Totally Unreliable History of Tavistock' take place today (Thursday).

The production will be given as part of the Tavistock Festival in April. The history may be unreliable – some of the events depicted may be fanciful and may not actually have taken place – but what can be guaranteed is that the creator of this history, local writer Frank Woodcock, has put together a series of sketches which will be hilarious.

The cast of six or seven will each take on about half a dozen different roles, women could be men, young could be old etc, and part of the humour will come from seeing the same actors in totally different roles, after a lighting change. As the key requirements for the cast are versatility, speed and unflappability, the director, Steph Reese, will conduct the auditions in workshop style.

The auditions will be at 7.30pm at the Guide Hall, the building with the double blue door which is on the left as you turn into Bedford Car Park. Anyone interested in being involved in the production but who cannot get to the auditions this evening could call The Tavonians on 0845 519 6592 — free call from a UK landline.

One week later, on Thursday, February 28, The Tavonians will be holding their annual meeting.

It will be a short meeting and will be followed by the reading of a one-act play. This will also be at 7.30pm in the Guide Hall.
