ANN Widdecombe, a former conservative party politician, entertained 90 people at a meeting of the Rotary Club of Tavistock held at the Bedford Hotel.
During the evening she recalled events from her political career and spoke of its successes and disappointments, also of life since retirement.
Her self deprecating and tongue in the cheek account of her ten- week run on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing show delighted the audience who responded with gales of laughter.
The evening concluded with Ann signing copies of her six books and giving the club a generous donation from the proceeds towards their charity account.
