LAST weekend saw six months hard training come into play as 21 athletes from Tavistock Athletic Club and Bere Alston Trekker's made their way to New Milton to take part in this years club trip, the New Forest half marathon.

The weather was perfect for racing.  The course, described by the race director 'is a one lap course and congratulations if you manage a personal best since the route is not paritcularly fast as there are undulating hills which sap strength from the runners' - well, there were eight PBs achieved by the athelets at this years event!

Making their half marathon debuts for Bat's was Kathy Williams and for Tavistock, Alison Eagleton and Jackie Ralph — who achieved superb times.

Setting the two hour pace finish time was club coach Dotty Allan.  First home was Pete Bazley who missed a prize in his age group by six seconds.

Jo Bourton took off 20 minutes from her previous time and their were good efforts from Hazel Walker and Vicki Lloyd. The teams would like to thank family and friends, who came and supported on the day.
