EIGHT miles of nocturnal fun in East Devon was had by two West Devon runners on Saturday evening.
Organised by Axe Valley Runners the gruelling Nightrunner event started in Beer near Seaton went through Branscombe and ended back at the local pub in Beer. It involved running along the cliff edge coastal path, through woods, across the shingle beach, along steep, stony trails, through fords and lots of mud! All in the dark with head torches!
Clare Short and Liz Vernon ran together helping each other along through some tricky running country.
Clare said: 'This is so much more fun than your standard road race where it is purely your time that matters. On a run like Nightrunner it is more about completing the course successfully and having a scream whilst doing it!'
Fellow runner Liz Vernon added: 'this was the hardest event I have ever done – but we'll both be back next year for definite!'
It took 1 hour 45 minutes for both Clare and Liz to complete the eight mile run and they achieved their main goal – they completed the course and didn't come last!
